User pushing a start button: Keep choices simple and meaningful

Distilled Simplicity
Design LoupeOur Design Style
Yes, we have a design philosophy.  We won't bore you with all of our theories and beliefs, but since you have come to this page, we will say that others have called our style "Distilled Simplicity".  We like that description.

  • Keep choices simple and meaningful for the user
  • Create a design vision  for the entire product
  • Brand everything:  Immerse the user in your branding
  • Use proven design principles
  • Innovate:  Avoid "obvious" solutions at first
  • Create many prototypes
  • Test designs rigorously  for usability
  • Execute the design with precision and polish
Albert Einstein

"Any fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent.  It takes a touch of genius - and a lot of courage - to move in the opposite direction.
                                                                                  Albert Einstein

Good Affordance
Buttons should look like buttons.  They should look like something you would be able to "Press" in order to take a specific action.  All UI mechanisms need to be meaningful and clear.

This is good affordance.  Have you noticed instances where good affordance is not given?  There seems to be a new trend to not bother with the illusions that  provide these visual clues.  We protest.

Good affordance is an interaction design principle that we are committed to.
